Hiking and central highlands of Sri Lanka - 11 Days
Day 01 – Colombo to Kandy.
City tour of Colombo and then drive to Kandy. Time to explore the Kandy city.

Day 02 – Knuckles.
Full day trek in the Knuckles Mountain range.

Day 03 – Kandy to Adam’s Peak.
Drive to Dalhousie, which is the closest town to start of Adam’s peak mountain.
Adam’s peak is a pilgrimage in Sri Lanka and traditionally the climb starts at midnight so that the sunrise can be
witnessed from the top of the mountain. The scenery when descending is breathtaking, but the most interesting part
is being part of the pilgrimage culture of the

Day 04 – Adam’s Peak to Nuwaraeliya.
Descend Adam’s peak. After breakfast drive to the hill town Nuwaraeliya. Rest of the day at leisure.

Day 05 – Nuwaraeliya - Horton Plains and Ella.
Early morning leave for the Horton plains hike. Horton Plain’s is one of the UNESCO natural world heritage sites
and has many point endemic flora and fauna.
After a short break at the hotel, drive to the Nanu Oya station to catch a train to Ella. This train ride is one of
the most scenic in the world.

Day 06 – Ella rock and mini adams peak
Spend the morning hiking up the Ella rock. Afternoon, have fun at the Ravana zip lines and if you are still up for
it, climb the 20 minutes mini-Adam’s peak close by or walk to the picture perfect Nine Arch bridge.

Day 07 – Haputale full day hike.
Morning, drive to Dambetenna tea factory to start our 16Km hike to the lipton’s seat and from there to St.
Catherine and Makulella. This is a rewarding hike through the lush tea plantations, giving you plenty opportunities
to have a closer look at the local lifestyle of tea picking communities.
Overnight stay in Haputale.
Day 08 – Idalgashinna to Adisham bunglaw Hike and Upper Diyaluma hike.
Today we take the train from Haputale to Idalgashinna. We start the 7km hike from Idalgashinna railway station
through pine forests to the beautiful Adisham bunglow, a colonial building now a place of worship. Afternoon hike to
the upper Diyaluma, this is the top of the Diyaluma waterfall with many natural rock basins to swim in.
Overnight stay in Haputale.
Day 09 – Haputale to Sinharaja.
Drive to Sinharaja rain forest, another UNESCO natural world heritage site. Afternoon optional hike in the rain forest.
Overnight stay in Sinharaja.
Day 10 – Sinharaja full day hike.
Enjoy a full day hike in the rain forest watching birds and learning about trees. The total distance will be around 14km.

Day 11 – Sinharaja to Benthota.
Drive to the beautiful coastal town, Benthota. Famous for the golden sandy beaches and water sports. Free afternoon to enjoy the beach.
